Intro to Canine Ethology
Overview
Learn to read your dog's behaviors and understand their functions. We have the tendency to misinterpret what our dogs are communicating because we can't help but see the world through our ape eyes and brains - this course gives you an overview of canine behavior to help you see things more through theirs! Vital for all dog owners and professionals of the canine field.
Duration: 1 Day
Puppy Development
Overview
We have the greatest potential for influence in our dog's life before they are six months old. Too often people miss this opportunity and wait until behavior problems arise before addressing their dog's needs. This course is designed to give you the tools you need to raise your puppy into a stable, adaptable, and resilient adult. Putting in even a few weeks of work during these early stages pays off for their entire lifetime. Course contents will be adapted to the individual goals you've set for your dog (e.g companionship, sport, work).
Duration: 1 Day
Remote Guidance Lvls 1-3
Overview
This course gives you the base you need to teach directional signals (such as left/right/forward/back). For the operational K9 this is expanded upon in lvl 2 with additional behaviors important for reconnaissance missions and counter-terrorism (e.g. looking/focusing at particular targets, object carry, and indication of human presence). Directionals are complimentary to any single or multiple K9 specialties (e.g. explosive detection or patrol). Lvl 3 covers introducing radio signals and working with camera systems.
Duration: 5 Days per lvl
Laser Targeting
Overview
Laser targeting as we define it, is intended as a method of getting a K9 as fast as possible to a select point (whether for detection, search, apprehension, etc.). This course differs from the technique commonly taught for laser guidance (standard shaping of behavioral response to light stimulus for delayed reward), and teaches what we consider to be most operational use of laser targeting. It prevents generalized reactivity to light sources, builds speed to the indicated target, and is compatible with all K9 disciplines.
Duration: 2 Days
Detection Lvl 1
Overview
Starting with the chemistry and perception of odor, then outlining the various types of training aids, conditioning techniques, and protocols - this course gives you the foundations you need to train your dog in any desired detection specialty (explosives, narcotics, bed bugs, nosework).
Duration: 2 Days
Detection Lvl 2
Overview
The "Rollot Method" is what we have dubbed the training technique (perfected by Mr Rollot - a former special operations K9 instructor) that uses machines to shape and capture search behaviors, resulting in the dog being almost entirely autonomous in their work, avoiding handler influence, and making it easy for one dog to work for multiple handlers throughout their careers.
