Welcome to

The name CaniOps was derived from the Latin: Canis operatio - "Canis" meaning of course, dog. "Operatio" can be translated from Latin into various meanings; the most obvious being "operation" - but, it also translates as "of working nature" and "devotion to task."

On the surface, the name can be interpreted simply, as "dog activity." Or even as "the working canine." In a more poetic sense, it describes our devotion to a mission-ready (or operational) working dog. Or perhaps still, the dog's own enthusiasm for the tasks he is assigned.

However one chooses to interpret the name, our objective here at CaniOps is to spread functional training knowledge and provide high-quality dogs for a variety of working specialties - whether that be through a training seminar, selection of working candidates, or providing fully prepared dogs.

Today she specializes in scent detection and control at distance (via radio or laser) for military and law enforcement K9.

Her teaching focus is making technical theory accessible to all, and combining this with the knowledge gained from dog training artisans and operational users.

THOMAS SCHUPPE

Thomas is a former member of French special operations. He combined his expertise in EOD and assault tactics with his talent for dog training, to shape France's first multi-specialty K9 program (assault, explosives detection, camera-guided reconnaissance, and laser targeting). Consequently, K9 teams became an increasingly valuable asset to intervention and reconnaissance.

Through his camera-guided dog project, it quickly became clear that the technology available did not match their training capabilities of guiding dogs over long distances and out of sight. Thomas thus founded the company T&S Concepts. The company dedicated years to developing a dog-mounted camera and radio system that would fit their operational needs : the K9 Vision System. Today the K9VS is used worldwide , in both special operations and traditional K9 units.

Later in his career, Thomas' focus shifted to making disciplines like camera/radio guidance and laser targeting accessible to all. He added to his operational role the title of program instructor, and demonstrated that multiple generations of dogs and handlers were capable of learning and sustaining advanced training techniques. Thomas established testing protocols and standards with the Centre National Cynophile de la Gendarmerie, enabling all French national police and military units to officially certify K9s in those specialties.

He now pulls from over 20 years of special operations experience to train units worldwide - with the goal of raising standards and demonstrating that we remain in the early stages of what K9 programs can truly offer tactical teams.
